It’s not what I thought

In the last 3 months, I’ve learned a lot about writing, publishing, and Medium. I’ve also made a bit of money. In this article, I want to share with you what I’ve learned and what I’ve earned in my first three months on Medium.

But first, a little bit about me:

I’m 20 years old, and I live in Switzerland (Yes, the small country with the amazing chocolate, cheese, and magnificent mountains). I currently work in Information Technology (IT) as a System Engineer.

In my free time, I absolutely love to learn new things and expand my awareness. I’m fascinated by psychology, philosophy, self-development and Spirituality.

From my “Work and Entertainment Space“ at Home, i write all these articles.

I joined Medium in February 2022. At that time, I had no idea that I would spend so much time writing.

My Statistics and Earnings:

In the last 30 days, I had 2574 Views, 681 Reads, and 209 Fans.

Views, Reads and Fans.

137 Followed me, 5 signed up to my E-Mail List, and 1 joined the Medium partner program through my affiliate link!

Followers, Email-Subs and Referred Members.

I published my first article on February 3th, and since then, I’ve written 40 articles and earned around 25$. It is important to note that I got accepted for the medium partner program around 2 weeks ago. So the 25$ I earned is from the last two weeks.

My earnings for the last two weeks since I was accepted to the Partner program.

The biggest surprise for me was that I actually made money on Medium. I didn’t expect to earn more than a few dollars, so it was a nice surprise. I’ve also learned that it takes time and effort to make money on Medium.

In these three months, I’ve also learned a lot about myself and my writing. I never considered myself a writer, but now I’m starting to enjoy it. I’ve also learned that I need to work on my grammar and spelling if I want to be a good writer.

My Top 5 learnings from these three months are:

-It takes much time and effort to make money on Medium

-Consistency is key

-Reading other people’s articles is essential to learning and growing as a writer

-Money should not be the goal! It’s about the joy of writing and learning new things!

-It’s okay to make mistakes, we all do. Just learn from them and keep writing!

Overall, I’m really happy with my progress in these three months. I’ve learned a lot and earned a bit of money. I also got one referred member this month.
